Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Pros in the fabrication and metalworking fields need power from their angle grinders, but safety is also always a concern. The DeWalt 60V Max Cordless 7-inch FlexVolt Grinder (DCG440) features a Kickback Brake to help prevent injury in the event of a bind up.

As part of the DeWalt Perform and Protect line of tools, the Cordless FlexVolt Grinder provides a high level of control and safety without sacrificing performance. It features DeWalt’s Kickback Brake. The grinder’s brake brings the wheel to a stop once you release the trigger while the E-Clutch System immediately shuts down the motor when it detects a pinch or stall.

The DeWalt DCG440 Kickback Brake incorporates both of these features. It activates when the system senses a bind-up, engaging the brake at max force and shutting the tool down simultaneously. The result is a grinder that keeps you and your team safe in any circumstance.

This type of safety seems particularly important considering the power the DeWalt Cordless FlexVolt Grinder puts out. According to the company, this 7-inch grinder delivers 30% more torque than the DCG418 60V Max FlexVolt Grinder with up to 2,300 max watts output. It has a no-load max of 6,500 rpm, making it an ideal solution for wire brushing, as well as general grinding and cutting for metal and concrete applications.

When the DeWalt FlexVolt 7-inch Grinder with Kickback Brake comes out later this year, it will be available as a bare tool or kitted with two 60V FlexVolt batteries and charger. As a bare tool (DCG440B), you can pick it up for $259. As a kit (DCG440X2), it will retail for $499. Either option comes with DeWalt’s 3-year warranty, 1-year free service contract, and 90-day money-back guarantee.
